CNC MACHINE OPERATOR


SANDIACRE, NOTTINGHAM


UP TO £37,132 DOE (INCLUDING SHIFT ALLOWANCE)


Progress Rail are looking to recruit a CNC Operator to operate CNC Milling Machines and produce machined components to the production plan, in a safe and efficient manner, within the planned production time and to the required quality.

THE ROLE:

As a CNC Operator you will be required to:

Ensure the correct grade of rail is used for each job as described on cutting sheets.

Calculate the lengths of rail for each job, maximising rail length usage.

Ensure the rail condition is to the agreed standard.

Record and log each cast number in the logbook.

Ensure the machine is programmed with the correct data for the process required for each rail.

Record offcuts and actual rail usage on cutting sheets.

Ensure offcuts returned to stock are correctly color-coded.

Ensure each cut rail is marked with the next operation destination, length, ID of job, front/ back, works order number, and weight and tag number.

Undertake inventory checks when required in accordance with current procedures and ensure stock identification and count accuracy is achieved.

Train new operatives when required.

Ensure that safety requirements are met and work in accordance with the companys procedures and legislation.

Reporting of accidents and ''near miss'' incidents in accordance with procedures.

Communicate with the following shift via the logbook and at shift changeover.

Ensure quality standards are met and improved on wherever possible.

Ensure Health and Safety Acts at work are and Company rules are adhered to.

Ensure the workplace and surrounding area is tidy and promote good housekeeping.

Assist in the solving of production problems and continuously improve in all areas of operation.

THE CANDIDATE:

The ideal CNC Operator:

  • Previous experience should include manufacturing industry, preferably in a medium to heavy environment
  • CNC Operator Experience (milling)
  • Ability to reading engineering drawings
  • Awareness of safety legislation and quality procedures (ISO 9001)
  • Attention to detail
