We have an exciting opportunity for a hands on individual to join an established manufacturer as a Trainee Machinist. The company are a recognised manufacturer of tooling who are experiencing strong growth.

As a Trainee Machinist, you will learn how to operate a specialist brand of 5 axis CNC machinery to regrind tooling that has already been manufactured. You will be working on very modern machinery and receive personal coaching from one of the Senior Machinists. This could be a fantastic opportunity for a machine operate, possibly from the woodwork sector, who wants to develop CNC skills and work within a cleaner engineering facility. Several long-term employees within the business have come from this background.

Package:c£25,000 as a guide + 25% shift premium when working nights. 22 days holiday + bank holidays. Scope for some overtime at x1.5 hourly rate.

Hours:Please note this position does operate on a rotating shift pattern across 2 weeks of days, and 2 weeks of nights. Specific patterns as follows.

• Days: 6:00am to 3:00pm Monday Thursday, 6:00am to 12:00pm Friday
• Nights: 9:15pm to 6:15am Sunday Wednesday, 4:00pm to 10:00pm Thursday

This Trainee Machinist job will suit:

• A hands on individual, could be a recent college leaver or general production / machine operator who wants to develop further skills.
• Could suit a woodworking Machinist that wants to learn CNC skills. The tooling that is manufactured is supplied into the woodworking sector hence why the product knowledge would help when developing these skills.
• A team player mentality. The team have excellent tenure and see this position as having real long term prospects.
• Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern and be comfortable with fairly short machining cycles.

The Trainee Machinist job will involve:

• Learning how to run a specialist CNC machine to regrind tooling.
• Learning how to use various inspection equipment to ensure parts meet the required quality standards.
• Working alongside wider Machinists as part of team to ensure production targets are achieved collectively.
• Scope to learn advanced machining skills, such as programming, and over time develop a career as a skilled Machinist / Engineer.
