Job Purpose:

Part of our Engineering Services team. Project Managers are involved in all aspects of the project from initial discussions to final delivery, including preparation of proposals and bidding documents.

PMs plan the projects and closely monitor activities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards.

About The Role:

As a Project Manager, you will be part of our Engineering Services team.

The Engineering Services Department is responsible for delivery of consultancy services to our customers, in which projects can vary from small analysis work to a full transmission design.

You will be involved in all aspects of the project from initial discussions to final delivery, including preparation of proposals and bidding documents.

You will plan the projects and closely monitor activities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards.

You will also work closely with the senior engineers to identify risks and put in place mitigation plans, ensuring they are reviewed regularly and that the appropriate actions are taken to minimise their impact on projects.

You will report directly to the Senior Project Manager and some international travel to client sites will be expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and implement processes defined in Process Chart 01 (PC01) for each project.
  • Use previous project data, templates and discussions with key team members to create Quotations/Proposals.
  • Create and maintain project plans using MS Project and Zoho Projects online.
  • Project Management during assigned projects - work to KPIs for project timeline, budget and technical quality by using and developing management techniques.
  • Mining, creating and presenting key data from assigned projects to the project team and department management.
  • Assisting with project management and reporting of outside departments with close relationship to ES (e.g Research & Finance).
  • Keep up to date and compliant with all relevant legislation and Company policies and procedures, with particular attention to the requirements of 'Information Security’ and 'Quality’ practices.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Willingness to undertake out of office customer training, sales and conferences.
  • Any other duties as requested from time to time.

Skills & Experience:

  • Essential:
    • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in relevant STEM subject (Engineering, Physics, Mathematics etc.).
    • Proven track record of successful project delivery in the automotive industry, ideally in a consultancy or OEM.
    • Experience with classic project management and agile methodologies with application to engineering consultancy.
    • Recent experience of Automotive OEM project management is desirable.
    • Proven experience in project planning, budgeting, and cost management.
    • Experience creating tools and process to improve productivity, communication clarity, organisation, reporting and reducing risk on projects.
    • Excellent communication skills, for both project and technical information, both with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Demonstrable ability to organise self and project teams, managing timescales to meet tight deadlines.
    • Self-motivated, able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Desirable:
    • A master’s degree is desirable, but not essential.
    • Professional Registration (e.g C.Eng IMechE).
    • A qualification in Project Management would be an advantage but is not essential.
