Health and Safety Advisor – Civils/Highways

A huge opportunity has been created for an upcoming health and safety professional to continue your health and safety career. This client is a market leader in the Civil Engineering sector.

Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, you will support and implement health and safety across various highways & construction sites in England.

The Location

The role involves a mix of working from home and travelling to sites, so you must have a full UK driver’s license and appreciate that travel is involved but is not excessive.

The Person

You should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a construction/civils health and safety role and hold an NEBOSH certificate or similar, with a good understanding of relevant SHEQ legislation and industry standards.

Key Accountabilities 

  • Assist in the development and ongoing review of the Health and Safety for each site.
  • Undertake site inspections and attend Site Review Meetings
  • Provide support with the identification and management of SHE risks, issues and opportunities
  • Create site-specific audit and inspection packs

Monitoring

  • Check that non-compliance reports from both internal and external audits are being adequately closed out with all corrective actions completed
  • Audit minor works carried out across sites as and when required

People

  • Keep up to date with knowledge on current SHE Legislation, Best Practice, current thinking on H&S practice and developments related to our business activities
  • Manage availability to the various sites to ensure that the right level of governance and support is provided
  • Proactive, engaging and positive attitude to the promotion of SHE excellence
