A leading housing association is seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Manager to lead and support the safe delivery of services and activities across various directorates. This role is pivotal in building, developing, implementing, and maintaining Safety Management Systems and ensuring that Health & Safety performance is accurately established and communicated.



Day-to-day of the role:

  • Develop and implement a Plan/Do/Check/Act approach to Health and Safety management.
  • Lead a team to embed these principles into the business, overseeing the establishment of suitable Risk Profiling systems.
  • Manage and promote support and wellbeing among direct reports including Health and Safety Business Partners, Officers, and Administrators.
  • Drive the development of the Health and Safety Strategy and Management Systems.
  • Create and enforce policies to establish a culture of Health and Safety.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
  • Build strong relationships at senior management levels to support positive progression in Health and Safety practices.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of Health and Safety training programmes.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention strategies.
  • Establish and maintain Health and Safety monitoring programmes and schedules.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership skills and previous experience as a Health & Safety Manager.
  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Health and Safety management.
  • Membership in a Health and Safety governing body such as the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health is ideal.
  • Strong ability to present complex legal and management information effectively across all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build good relations.
  • Extensive experience in building management systems in line with ISO standards/HSG65.
  • Ability to manage a geographically dispersed team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to travel extensively between operational areas and offices.
