Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: Up to 42K DOE

Day Shift: Mon - Fri 37 hours per week - 8.00am to 4.30pm Mon-Thurs, 8.00am to 1.00pm Fri

This is a fantastic opportunity for an energetic and enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer to be responsible for developing product designs from concept to production to add to our award winning products.

Job Discription:

  • Concept generation and selection based on selection criteria - converting sales input into technical requirements.
  • Product development and costing, as well as life-cycle management.
  • Geometric tolerancing and dimensioning.
  • High quality modelling and drawing creation to accepted industry standards at component, sub-system, and system level.
  • Bills of materials creation and structure.
  • CE marking and compliance activities.
  • Design reviews, documentation, and failure mode analysis.
  • Value engineering and cost optimisation.
  • Design for manufacture and design for assembly.

Essential:

  • Engineering degree (masters level preferred but not essential) ideally specialised in Thermodynamics, Aerodynamics/ Fluid Dynamics, Dynamics and vibrations or renewable energy. Strong Mechanical element
  • 3+ years industrial experience in engineering systems mechanical design
  • Experience of successful design cost-down activities
  • Experience in design for manufacture and assembly
  • Ability to use 3D CAD - ideally Solidworks with industry standard practices in drawing creation

Desirable:

  • Passionate about developing systems for education
  • Ability to engage with people on different levels and drive projects to a successful conclusion within a high-pressured manufacturing operation
  • Innovative and experienced working well in teams
  • Knowledge of post process treatments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking
  • Knowledge of robust Bill of Materials structure and management
  • 5 years industrial experience
