A leading provider in bespoke equipment is seeking a skilled and proactive Manufacturing Engineer to join their growing team of engineers. This business specialises in designing and manufacturing mechanical machines used worldwide. With in-house capabilities for design, manufacturing, and testing, they produce a variety of testing machinery, ranging from materials testing equipment to aerodynamics and fluid mechanics systems. Their niche market presence makes this an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to drive improvements in quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

This position involves working closely with the production team, identifying areas for process improvement, and implementing cost-effective manufacturing techniques. You will also work on developing tooling, jigs, and better delivery methods to enhance overall operations. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will have autonomy to drive manufacturing enhancements while collaborating with other departments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and implementing improvements in manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Developing tooling, jigs, and manufacturing techniques to streamline production and minimize human error.
  • Reducing waste and improving cost-effectiveness in materials, delivery methods, and production techniques.
  • Collaborating with shop floor staff to identify repeated errors and areas for improvement.
  • Producing 3D models using SolidWorks (majority 3D with some 2D work).
  • Ensuring product designs minimize the need for ongoing tweaks and adjustments during manufacturing.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A highly experienced and independent Manufacturing Engineer with previous experience in a similar role.
  • Strong hands-on experience in 3D modelling using SolidWorks or comparable software.
  • Previous experience in a machinery manufacturing business, with a deep understanding of production processes.
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset, capable of identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with various departments and shop floor staff.
  • A self-motivated individual who takes initiative and is eager to improve processes.
  • A background in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.

The Benefits:

  • Competitive Salary Package of up to £45k, depending on experience.
  • Working Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm (Mon-Thu) with an early finish on Fridays (8:00am – 1:00pm).
