Principal Sustainability Consultant - Nottingham

The successful candidate will be managing a team of five specialists and consultants, delivering energy, sustainability and overheating strategies to a broad spectrum of clients, including major complex London development, low rise volume and regional housebuilder schemes and a variety of non-domestic developments.

Job responsibilities of the Principal Consultant:

  • Identifying training and development needs of the team
  • Ensure that workload is effectively managed and assigned, coordinating service delivery across multiple disciplines
  • Work with the Commercial Director to develop a business plan for the planning and IES team covering investment, market opportunity, recruitment and software opportunities
  • Ensure that our reports are compiled against all relevant regulatory and planning requirements, both current and future, to future proof our client's developments
  • Review completed projects to identify process improvements and training opportunities

The ideal Principal Consultant will:

  • Be degree qualified within a relevant subject such as Environmental Science/Engineering
  • Be chartered from CIBSE or the Energy Institute
  • Have excellent Excellent understanding of the GLA and local borough planning requirements and their interaction with both Approved Document L of the Building Regulations and the upcoming Future Homes Standard
  • Have a firm understanding of overheating management strategies through the use of dynamic simulation modelling through IES
  • Have knowledge of industry accreditations schemes such as BREEAM, WELL, NABERS are beneficial but not essential
  • Have knowledge of Passivhaus standard and operational energy modelling processes (CIBSE TM54) and whole life cycle carbon assessments (preferably using One Click LCA)
