We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of the UK’s leading providers of behavioural care and specialist support services, for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the established team in an independent mental health hospital in Nottingham

The hospital is a purpose built 52 bedded acute mental health hospital, comprising of two adult acute wards and 2 Psychiatric Intensive Care Units. The teams main focus is on patient experience right from the point of referral through to discharge and follow on support. They provide services for local NHS patients and out of area patients from the NHS and they have recently been awarded a CQC rating of "good"

The treatment programmes aim to optimise patient recovery and potential by treating and minimising risk behaviours and by enabling them to develop psychological / emotional, social and occupational skills and resilience.

All interventions aim to help the patient to understand the effect of their behaviour on others, to help them to manage the impact of external triggers on their behaviour and ultimately to promote the concept of recovery. These interventions include:

  • Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)
  • Mental health awareness group
  • Individual and group psychological therapy
  • Managing anger programme (MAP)
  • Drug and alcohol programme
  • Relationship programme (social skills)
  • Coping skills programme
  • Problem solving therapy

Our structured approach to care explicitly acknowledges and supports the issue of change (or readiness for change) and is essential for successful engagement and treatment.

Due to internal moves, they now have a vacancy for a dedicated full-time Consultant Psychiatrist for their acute mixed ward. The salary £185,000 per annum and is negotiable and a suitable candidate could be considered for the Medical Director position.

The service will accept admissions 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from Nottinghamshire NHS but also from other parts of the United Kingdom. They seek to appoint a highly-motivated Consultant Psychiatrist to complement the existing medical work force. As a Consultant Psychiatrist you would lead a multidisciplinary team of professionals from nursing, clinical psychology, social work and occupational therapy and a Specialty Doctor who will form part of the MDT.

The successful candidate will be joining an expanding and clinically diverse company. There is strong governance structure within the Region and the successful applicant will be expected to take an active role in service and quality development activities and to participate in governance meetings and Service Line meetings, as necessary.

The hospital operates a non-residential medical on call rota and the post holder is expected to participate on the on-call rota which is on a second on call basis, 1:7

Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required.
