Job Description:

M-Tech Engineering Ltd are a well-established architectural metalwork company who specialise in staircase manufacturing. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Architectural Estimator with experience in staircase projects to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate costing, planning, and delivery of custom staircase designs for a wide range of clients, from residential to commercial projects.

As an Architectural Estimator, you will collaborate with designers, architects, and clients to provide precise cost estimations, material take-offs, and project timelines. Your in-depth understanding of metalwork and staircase construction, materials, and industry standards will help ensure each project is delivered on budget and to the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Project Assessment: Review architectural drawings, specifications, and client requirements to identify potential challenges and provide solutions.
  • Tendering: Produce clear and concise tender documents and manage the tendering process, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Bill of Quantities: Develop and maintain comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for each project.
  • Client Liaison: Work closely with clients, architects, and project managers to ensure all specifications and expectations are met, offering advice and guidance where needed.
  • Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or design integrity.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates on project costs, potential overruns, and profitability forecasts.
  • Material Selection: Advise on appropriate materials, finishes, and construction methods specific to staircase design and installation.
  • Compliance: Ensure all estimations and projects comply with current building regulations and industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Architectural Estimator, preferably within staircase design, steel fabrication, or a related construction sector.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, construction methods, and the pricing of staircases, including bespoke and custom designs.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Strong negotiation skills with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, architects, and clients.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant UK building regulations and health and safety standards.

Desirable:

  • Formal qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Experience working with high-end or bespoke staircases.
  • Familiarity with CAD software or design tools.
