SANDIACRE, NOTTINGHAM (12 MONTHS MATERNITY COVER)


COMPETITIVE SALARY


Progress Rail are looking to recruit a Junior Materials Controller to ensure continuity of supply of materials for our clients requirements in line with committed dates, ensuring stock accuracy, sending out reports to suppliers on requirements for visibility of raw material ordering and assisting the team leads on current projects and tasks. The role would work alongside the Procurement and Stores Team leads, assist with material controls for production needs and run forecasting reports for internal and external customers.


THE ROLE:
As a Junior Materials Controller you will be required to:

Support the team leads and Procurement Manager with the day to day Stores and Procurement activities including attending production meetings when required to give updates on materials and kitting status.

Update the business weekly with any material issues that could affect inspection or despatch dates.

Escalate supply, production and inventory issues to the Procurement and Stores team leads and Procurement Manager.

Monitor, review and update plans and reports daily and ensure any issues are communicated to the team leads and Procurement Manager.

Run forecasting reports, review issues and send to internal and external suppliers weekly.

Assist in running the material shortage report with the Procurement team and attend the weekly meetings to review any potential stock outs.

Create Material forecast reports and report any slow moving stock.

Assist the team leads with organising kitting priorities for production plans and highlighting any potential material issues.

Review and update the approved supplier system and ensure certifications are up to date.

Support, raise and complete non-conformances and CCDs internally and externally.

Help develop standard processes and improvements as part of the team.

Review safety stock and minimum/maximum stocking policies periodically.


THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal Junior Materials Controller:

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
  • Attention to detail
  • Logical/Analytical approach
  • Flexible/One team mentality mindset
  • Good communicator
  • Aptitude to learn and self-starter
  • Material control experience preferably gained from a manufacturing environment desirable but not essential
  • Familiar with MRP processes/systems
