Pay Rate: 12.77ph, plus 5 hours at time and a half 19.16ph, plus Saturday mornings at time and a half. 19.16.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday: Shift is between 07.00am and 5.00pm, 9-hour shifts, 8 hours paid at standard rate, last hour paid at time and a half. You will also get paid for your breaks. Saturday Mornings on demand: 07.00am till 12.00 midday, paid at time and a half. 19.16ph
We are collaborating with our client who is has a fantastic opportunity to recruit a Yard/ FLT Counterbalance Operative to oversee the efficient operation of the yard area. This includes managing inventory, maintaining cleanliness and safety, and assisting with loading and unloading of goods. Overall, the job purpose of a yard operative is to contribute to the smooth functioning of the company's operations by managing the yard area effectively and supporting the logistical needs of the business.
Job Brief
As a Yard Operative, you will be responsible for the efficient operation of the yard area within the Nottingham Depot. Your primary duties will involve organising, maintaining, and managing inventory, as well as assisting with loading and unloading of goods. You will ensure that the yard area is kept clean, safe, and well-organised at all times.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Receive incoming goods, inspecting them for damage and accuracy.
- Organize and store goods in designated locations within the yard.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through regular stock checks and audits.
- Ensure that inventory levels are sufficient for operational needs.
Yard Maintenance:
- Keep the yard area clean, tidy, and free from hazards.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on yard equipment and machinery.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
Loading and Unloading:
- Assist with loading and unloading of goods onto/from trucks or other vehicles.
- Ensure that goods are properly secured and stacked to prevent damage during transportation.
- Use appropriate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or cranes as needed.
Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Identify and report any safety hazards or concerns in the yard area.
Customer Service:
- Provide assistance to customers or delivery personnel as needed.
- Ensure that customers receive accurate and timely service when picking up goods.
Teamwork:
- Collaborate with other yard operatives and colleagues to ensure efficient operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Working Conditions:
- The role involves working primarily outdoors in a yard environment.
- May require lifting heavy objects and operating machinery.
- Work hours may vary, including evenings and weekends, depending on business needs.
The Ideal Candidate
- Will have worked in a similar role.
- Will have FLT Counterbalance license or used pallet jacks.
- Can commit to the role.
- Will be hard working and dependable and available to work Saturday mornings on demand.
- Can start ASAP.
Please note full training will be given, as long as you have worked in a similar role.
