About the Role:

GSL SEN Education are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant with a BSL qualification to work in a SEN school. The school is all ages from 5-18, the class sizes are on average 8 students per teacher. Furthermore, the school received a positive Ofsted report recently, which shows off the incredible and supportive team you could be potentially working with.

This role is Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm, please only apply if you can commit to working to the working pattern mentioned.

Key Responsibilities of a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant:

  • Support students with complex mental health and emotional needs.
  • Help demonstrate the value of education to students.
  • Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure each student receives the necessary care and guidance.
  • Working 1:1 with students offering extra support

Key Requirements of a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant:

  • British Sign Language qualification
  • A sincere passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
  • The ability to build strong, comfort-based relationships with students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Will have a Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/ Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service. – If you don’t already have a DBS, we can help you apply for one.
