We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide quality support and care to our pupils. You will work closely with teachers, support staff, and students to provide targeted support and encouragement, helping students achieve their potential in a supportive and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering tailored lessons and activities to students with SEMH & SEN.
  • Provide one-on-one support and small group interventions to students.
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in line with school policies and best practices.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes students' social and emotional development.
  • Monitor and track students' progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure students' needs are met.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of personalized learning plans for students.
  • Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH & SEND (ASD, ADHD, Complex Needs, Dyslexia) needs in a school setting, we also welcome applications from individuals new to this sector that have transferable skills from roles such as Youth Work, Family Support Worker and Children’s Residential Support Worker.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs and best practices in supporting students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with students facing challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special education, or related fields are desirable.

Pay - £84.77-£90 per day (you must have 3 years' experience working with SEMH Needs to qualify for the higher end of the scale)
