Employment Type:Â Sub-Contractor/Self-Employed outside IR35
Schedule:Â 1 to 5 days per week
Hourly Rate:Â varies on a project by project basis
Qualifications and Experience:
- Recognised Mechanical and/or Electrical qualifications
- Technically competent in electrical and mechanical building services.
- Good understanding of statutory compliance and Health and Safety requirements.
- MICWCI/LICWCI/ICWCI/CIOB/RICS (preferred)
- Proficient in IT.
- UK driving license.

Job Summary:
The M&E Clerk of Works (Mechanical and Electrical) is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality, standards, and compliance of mechanical and electrical installations on a construction project. The role involves site inspection, monitoring contractor performance, verifying material specifications, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols, and providing detailed reports on site conditions and progress. The M&E Clerk of Works will work closely with project teams, contractors, and quality control personnel to ensure that the M&E aspects of the project are executed according to design specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
Some jobs projects require weekly visits, some daily and some bi-weekly. Our Clerk of Works manage their own diary and hours.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of M&E systems, installation standards, and building codes.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify non-conformances in installations.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with contractors, clients, and project teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and report-writing skills.
