Assistant Planner

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be supporting a rapidly growing multi-disciplinary consultancy whose team of Planning specialists in Nottingham are looking for the addition of an enthusiastic, ambitious, and dynamic Assistant Planner!

You will work alongside experienced planners, gaining valuable experience in the planning process within a consultancy environment, and will work on a varied and engaging workload, including urban regeneration and sustainable urban extension projects across the UK. The Role:You will work on diverse projects, advising on development potential, preparing planning applications, and assisting with securing planning permissions. Collaborating with national house builders, land promoters, and landowners, you'll have the chance to play a key role in major urban extensions across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on development potential of land and buildings.
  • Assist in preparing planning applications and appeals.
  • Provide policy advice and research.
  • Draft representations to planning consultations and examinations.
  • Identify new land opportunities.
  • Collaborate with senior officers, clients, and consultants to deliver successful developments.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in a planning role (ideally within local government, consultancy, or the development industry).
  • Relevant Planning qualification (or working towards one).
  • Membership of RTPI or working towards membership.
  • Knowledge of the planning process and systems.
  • Strong writing, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and work efficiently within a team.
  • Enthusiasm, drive, and a commitment to personal and career development.
