MS548 - Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: Nottingham 

Salary: £39,211 Per Annum

Overview: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer on behalf of one of our clients.

Working alongside the Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for carrying out a wide variety of maintenance, repair and first-fix tasks, with a focus on electrical work, but also including some plumbing, joinery and general repairs raised daily via internal building maintenance requests.

The ideal candidate will not only have an electrical background, but also be comfortable working across multiple trades, responding to day-to-day maintenance requests to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:      

  • Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance, of electrical and other systems, diagnosing and repairing defects across our sites.
  • Respond to urgent repair requests across a wide range of facility issues, ensuring quick and efficient resolution.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults across electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Perform minor repairs including, but not limited to, general DIY and plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, unblocking drains and minor pipe repairs.
  • Liaise with contractors and other team members to ensure smooth operation and effective maintenance of the depot.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work completed and any spare parts used, ensuring all documentation is kept up to date.
  • Demonstrate a ‘can-do’ attitude to all colleagues and carry out all repairs possible to maintain the viability of departmental activities across the company.
  • Carry out all work to a high standard of quality ensuring that safety remains a priority at all times.
  • Ensure good housekeeping, cleanliness and upkeep of work areas, premises, equipment and tooling, maintaining health and safety awareness and compliance in all aspects of maintenance activities.
  • 37 hours per week over 5 days, which will include some weekend working.

Skills and Qualifications:  

  • 18th Edition wiring regulations certification.
  • City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 qualifications for inspection and testing.
  • City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installations, or recognised apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong electrical skills and hands-on experience with electrical systems, ideally in a commercial or Facilities Management environment.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality maintenance and reactive repairs across multiple disciplines.
  • Proven experience in a multi-skilled role within a Facilities Management or commercial environment.
  • Excellent fault finding and diagnostic skills, with the ability to quickly identify and rectify issues.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety procedures, particularly related to electrical work.
  • Good communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, can do attitude with a team player mentality.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Basic plumbing qualification or demonstrable hands-on experience in plumbing (desirable).
