J2 Mechanical Electrical Servicesspecialise in delivering a safe and resilient solution to both mechanical, electrical and controls services.

We are seeking aControls Engineerto develop, install and commission PLC and HMI software on our clients sites.

Primarily this will be using Rockwell control systems but experience with other systems will be considered an advantage.

What you'll be working on:

  • Produce, install and commission PLC code to suit machine and plant specifications.
  • Produce, install and commission HMI code to suit machine and plant specifications.
  • Work together with other engineering departments to get the equipment through the FAT and SAT processes.
  • Report problems and deficiencies in the design and brief.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and to budget.
  • Maintain competitiveness by ensuring the software is produced within the timescale indicated.
  • Ensure technical co-ordination with all other internal and external disciplines.
  • Maintain files and records throughout the duration of the contract.
  • Suggest solutions to problems based on an understanding of relevant technologies.
  • Visit customers as required to resolve problems and test systems.

Background/Experience:

  • Experience within an engineering-related position.
  • Experience in manufacturing/assembly/process environments.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Working knowledge of Rockwell and Siemens control systems, PLC/HMI programming, servo drives and controls.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems will be appreciated.
  • Educated to BSc or HNC/HND level.
  • Knowledge and experience of CDM regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience of CE technical files and UK/EU standards.
