H9 Technical Recruitment are hiring for a Deputy Operations Manager to work at our clients EfW plant in Nottingham to be responsible for the Weighbridge on a day-to-day basis and leading improvements in operational performance at the plant

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Operations Manager in management of the site safe System of Work as defined by the Safety Rules.
  • Compliance with, and performance of, designated safe System of Work responsibilities as defined by the Safety Rules.
  • Lead role in site Safety forums, including procedure and Safety System reviews on a periodic basis.
  • Provision of leadership, direction, management, and personal development to the Operations team, to build and maintain a team working culture where team members can and want to develop and contribute to their full potential.
  • Assist Operations Manager in management of close Operations/Maintenance team co-operation in the development, implementation and use of the site CMMS.
  • Lead role in the development, delivery, and ongoing review/revision of the facility Operations procedures.
  • Assist Operations Manager in strategic and day to day operational management, supervision, planning, and co-ordination of departmental activities, in close co-operation with the Maintenance teams, to deliver maximum plant availability, flexibility and overall performance.
  • Planning, development, and delivery of the Operations/Maintenance/Safety Rules interfaces required for the safe, effective and timely delivery of equipment and facility planned and unplanned outages.
  • Development and maintenance of effective interfaces between the Operations department and all other site functional teams.
  • Supervision of effective plant operation and continuous optimisation of process issues to maximise capacity and availability. Analysis of process issues and failures to improve plant.
  • Preparation and management of contracts required for any external technical support.
  • Working to develop and improve the safe systems of work used at Eastcroft.
  • Provide support and flexible working arrangements to support the successful operation of the facility
  • Reduce the environmental impact of the operation with due regard to protecting the environment, always
  • Reporting and investigating incidents, accidents and near misses, without undue delay.
  • Leading operational improvement activities.
  • Analysing losses and incidents to reduce the likelihood of re occurrence.
  • Developing ideas and solutions to improve operational performance.
  • Identify, Quote, Tender, Plan and manage to completion improvement projects
  • Preparation of operational strategy to ensure it aligns with the overall plan and requirements
  • Controlling contractors to ensure that they operate in accordance with the Safe System of Work
  • Any other activities as designated by the Operations Manager.
  • Carry out risk assessments and audits to ensure activities are completed in a safe manner at all times.
  • Manage the day-to-day intake of vehicles ensuring compliance with planning, Environmental Permit and duty of care at all times.
  • Liaise with the Sales team for additional C&I waste fuel inputs when required
  • Manage and develop good working relationships with all Input and Output suppliers and contractors linked with site
  • Stand in for the Shift Lead Engineer role if required. (SAP 1)

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong Leadership - Experience of managing a team is essential
  • Commitment - Continually keeping up to date execution plans (including the schedule and the mobilization of personnel and equipment
  • Competency - Ability to always demonstrate excellent Health and Safety behaviours, while ensuring and enforcing safety expectations are continually implemented and maintained.
