Research & Development EngineerJob Purpose:You will manage and work hands-on with multiple development projects.

I Holland's R&D team are responsible for the development of both products and manufacturing processes and you'll be expected to work on projects from both sides of the business.

You will have a Mechanical Engineering Degree preferably with some experience of metallurgy and advanced metallurgical coatings. A good understanding of Microsoft Office is essential.

You will be expected to become a subject matter expert (relating to all products passing through R&D) and as such, hold a key position within our Customer Support Group.

You will be a very good communicator at all levels and will be willing to travel abroad on occasion. You will hold a full UK driving licence.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:* Manage multiple development projects* Facilitate the manufacture of parts/components, etc.* Liaise with manufacturing to improve current and research new machining processes* Manage multiple development partners* Be responsible to identifying possible grant funding opportunities* Be responsible for our Component Testing Program (Wear, Corrosion & Toughness)* Provide technical support to our Sales Team and Customers* Write up all work instructions and quality control procedures relating to new processes/products* Be responsible for drafting R&D Tax Narratives relating to own and others R&D Projects

Essential Qualification* Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Desirable Experience

* Previous experience developing new products and processes from concept through to implementation.* 2 years experience of working as a development engineer within a research and development department.* 2 years experience working as a production engineer within direct responsibility for managing projects to establish efficiency gains.* Experience of working in a customer-focused role.* Experience of preparing and delivering presentations/training programs

Knowledge

Desirable* Physical/Chemical Vapour Deposition* Metallurgical Experience* Computer-aided design technology literate* Tablet tooling equipment and manufacturing process incl. terminology employed in technical drawings.
