Job Purpose: 

Our high-profile housing association client is looking for a skilled Painter to support the maintenance of housing assets, ensuring they meet statutory and regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will contribute to improving landlord-tenant relationships and ensuring health and safety standards are upheld.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the integrity of property structures, ensuring essential appearance, stability, and protection from the climate.
  • Perform all aspects of internal and external painting in domestic and commercial buildings, including stripping and papering walls, ceilings, and staircases.
  • Work may involve textured finishes, specialist coatings, fire retardant work, and mould treatments.
  • Utilise skills from other general trades to achieve first-time fixes where efficient and appropriate.
  • Ensure installations remain in a reasonable state of repair, minimising inconvenience to customers.
  • Mitigate risks of exposing residents to pollutants such as uncombusted fuel gas, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide, and smoke. - Undertake proactive fault finding, remedial works, and reporting, including identifying reasons for deterioration.
  • Identify underlying causes of issues and deliver solutions, prescribing repair over replacement unless unsuitable.
  • Adhere to best practices and cooperate with the employer to ensure a safe workplace for staff, customers, and the public.
  • Assess, identify, and report any serious health and safety risks, including safeguarding issues, overcrowding, damp and mould, disturbed asbestos, excessive cold or heat, or building defects.
  • Perform tasks with professionalism, diligence, care, and expertise.
  • Comply with all relevant policies and processes, meeting individual and team success measures.
  • Maintain professional qualifications, memberships, or licenses, and partake in employer-determined training.
  • Complete tasks associated with work specifications and finishes schedules, including bespoke specifications.
  • Train and mentor apprentices and support work experience or training needs as required.
  • Engage in flexible and agile working to cover the service 24/7, as agreed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in painting and decorating, with a focus on both domestic and commercial settings.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Excellent communication and customer service skills.
