Credit Control Team Leader

As the Credit & Collections Team Leader for our client, you'll take centre stage in driving their credit control and collections strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team, where your leadership will directly impact the business's success by balancing risk management with sales growth. You'll be at the forefront of optimising credit processes, solving challenges, and collaborating across departments, all while maximising sales potential and delivering real business results!

Description of the role:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Credit Controllers to drive performance.
  • Set and monitor monthly targets for the team, providing coaching and feedback where needed.
  • Review customer ledgers and ensure all accounts have actionable plans in place.
  • Establish criteria for setting credit limits for new and existing customers by analysing financial data.
  • Monitor credit-held orders daily, resolving issues with Sales and Credit teams to boost sales performance.
  • Manage aged debt, focusing particularly on 90+ day debt and ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Act as the face of the Credit Team by liaising with Country Managers, Sales Directors, and Customer Service to resolve credit disputes and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Oversee seasonal order-book procedures and ensure timely allocation of cash, credit notes, and journals.
  • Provide monthly management reports on team performance, challenges, and action plans.
  • Authorise legal action on accounts when collection efforts have been exhausted.
  • Conduct appraisals for team members, assisting with development plans and coaching to improve skill sets.


About you:

  • At least 2 years of credit control experience in an FMCG environment.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience with a track record of motivating and guiding teams.
  • Analytical mindset with an understanding of balance sheets, P&L, and broader business goals.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with sales and customer service teams to resolve disputes and drive business performance.
