Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor


Locations: Solihull / Leicester / Midlands Region


An opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team with my client. This would be a great opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking for career progression within a great business but we would also welcome applications from Senior Quantity Surveyors who are looking to deepen their knowledge within their field.

Joining an established team with a 30 year specialist track record in the Facades industry, you will carry out and oversee surveying duties and functions on a range of specialist projects across the UK. Projects include high end residential, high-quality hotels, student accommodation, offices and hospitals as well as traditional residential and commercial developments.


What you will be doing:

The role will include developing close inter-relations with the Client and Sub-contractors and maintain profitable projects. You will also be responsible for the supervision and management of site and trainee surveyors on own various projects and completing the following tasks:
• Attending tender handover meetings on secured projects and take responsibility for all relevant cost information.
• Form contract budgets from tender information calculating total profit/loss forecasts.
• Carry out monthly budget monitoring, updating budget for works in progress
• Providing interim cost and value reconciliation, monitoring cashflows for projects.
• Preparation and agreement of interim Applications for Payment and Final Accounts, all aspects of measurement
• Procurement of subcontractors, including obtaining agreement on rates, measurements and placing subcontract orders.
• Preparation and compilation of subcontract documentation with appropriate orders.
• Implement subcontract payment controls, evaluating contract works, variations, materials, contra charges and claims.
• Recording confirmed verbal instructions that have a cost and/or time effect to ensure their recovery.
• Oversee miscellaneous procedures, including notices to subcontractors for payment, general correspondence, and office administration.
• Keeping record keeping of site progress, with photographs, written records, marked up drawings and collection of data together, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
• Monitoring progress and reporting on delays with Notices of Delay to Client, including preparation and submission of prolongation costs for payment.
• Liaise and co-ordinate with all business unit departments to improve all levels of communication to benefit and develop the companies' objectives.


About You:
• Strong commercial and technical knowledge to align with key accountabilities.
• Proven Track record of managing commercial staff across multiple sites.
• Experience of residential and commercial sectors using differing construction systems.
• Motivational individual – good leadership qualities.
• Aware of individual Health and Safety responsibilities and adheres to company health and safety policy and procedures.
• Able to demonstrate alignment and work in line with the companies values - Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Collaboration.
• Good sound contract knowledge and experience in various subcontract types
• Experience in BMS and associated commercial procedures i.e. cost reporting.
• Sound contract knowledge of JCT and Industry Standard Contracts.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and policies.
• Experience of PLC policies and procedures relating to BMS / Quality / Employment.
