Quantity Surveyor - Nottingham / Remote 

Our client, based in Nottingham, is looking for a skilled Quantity Surveyor with strong commercial acumen. You will join a dynamic operations team and play a key role in managing the commercial and contractual aspects of diverse projects and service contracts. In this role, you’ll provide expert contractual advice, oversee project costs, and collaborate with departments such as the bid and technical teams to enhance our business processes.

Key Responsibilities

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will:

  • Provide expert contractual advice to operational delivery teams.
  • Administer the commercial and contractual aspects of assigned projects and contracts.
  • Manage project costs, drive value, and identify opportunities for savings.
  • Prepare and submit payment applications and evaluate subcontractor applications.
  • Oversee supplier and subcontractor agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
  • Identify and manage risks, including variations and changes to project scope.
  • Compile and submit KPIs, job costings, and financial reports.
  • Assess contractor and supplier claims, making recommendations for settlements.
  • Finalise contractor accounts and close out contracts.
Skills and Experience:

We’re looking for a professional with:

  • Strong financial skills, including CVR, P&L, and cash flow management.
  • Excellent commercial and contractual awareness.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in Fire & Security or M&E sectors.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a similar discipline (preferred).
  • Familiarity with JCT and NEC 3 & 4 standard suite of contracts.
