Providers of automated materials handling and software solutions for warehousing operations are now seeking a Controls Engineer. Work within the Controls Design team to produce PLC software as required for Client’s automated warehouse systems, along with commissioning of control systems on client sites.

Controls Engineer - The Role:

  • Write PLC and HMI code (Siemens TIA Portal) to meet requirements of the system; test the code and install it and commission it at clients’ sites

  • Write the FS for projects as required and co-ordinate with colleagues within Engineering and within Systems to ensure alignment of functionality and interfaces

  • Work with the Project Engineering team to ensure full co-ordination of electrical, control and mechanical part requirements and a complete integrated design solution.

  • Proactively work with Engineering, procurement, project management and installations to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and scope.

  • Investigate and resolve any technical issues that are flagged within electrical design and PLC software systems

  • Provide first line training / familiarisation to support team members for commissioned systems.

  • Support colleagues around the business in the execution of Client’s work – including, but not limited to, attending customer meetings, customer sites, internal project meetings, supplier meetings.

  • Keep developing yourself and your skills to ensure your technical skills remain current.

Controls Engineer - The Person:

  • Siemens PLC software knowledge (TIA Portal) or a strong aptitude and willingness to learn this skill

  • Teamwork focused individual who has strong resilience and able to manage conflicting priorities.

  • A strong can-do attitude and willingness to step in and help resolve complex problems when required.

  • Strong eye for detail and a natural interest in understanding how equipment works

  • Someone willing to spend time away from home to commission Automated Systems

Located in East Midlands, role would be commutable from Wellingborough, Market Harborough, Rugby, Coventry, Nottingham and surrounding areas.
