We are supporting a lovely client within the public sector, who require a Finance Assistant to join their team on a temp - perm basis, offering £23 - 25,000pa, DOE.
Located in Nottingham this will predominately be fully office based with a view to hybrid working further down the line.
This role can be considered on a full time or part time (4 days per week) basis.
This role will see you supporting the FD and Assistant accountant in the financial management of the organisation.
Key duties:
- To support and deputise the Assistant Accountant in the month-end process and the preparation and input of journals to the accounting system.
- To maintain up to date invoice entry to the Finance and Grants Systems, reconcile supplier statements and issues VAT certificates as required.
- To process charity payments to organisations and individuals, ensuring all payments are authorised and paid against commitments or purchase orders Note: This will be limited to payments associated with Charity operational payments only.
- To undertake funds administration; and liaise with fund advisors in respect of charity finances as required; i.e. setting up new funds, ensuring funds are not overdrawn.
- To undertake monthly bank reconciliation
- To support the Income Manager with the gift aid processing and other income initiatives.
- To keep accurate up to date records of Receipt Books, receipt book holders for audit control and to encourage cashiers and hospital staff to complete receipts correctly.
- To reconcile petty cash floats and ensure systems are robust and accurate.
- Assist the Assistant Accountant in the development of processes and systems to ensure the smooth running of the Charity.
- To provide support and guidance to staff and to the Charity's fund advisors, offering advice on appropriate charitable funds expenditure in line with Charity Guidelines and the Charity Commission's donor intent guidelines and legislation.
- To investigate and resolve financial and administration queries
- To assist in the production of the Monthly and Annual Accounts and Annual Report as required, in accordance with Charity Statement of Recommended Practice
- Support with other general duties such as administration, look after the grants inbox, assist new members of staff, participate in audits, implement procedures and occasionally meet and greet visitors/donors as required.
You will have an extensive background of working in similar roles, carrying out similar duties and be available to start within the next couple of weeks, as such immediate availability or 1 week notice periods are preferred.
