Senior Finance Assistant

Location: Nottingham, NG7 (Office-based)

Salary: Up to £30,000

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Interview process: 2 stages (1 in-person and 1 on Teams)

Main Responsibilities:

As a Senior Finance Assistant, you will be a vital part of the finance team, overseeing key accounts functions including:

- Sales Ledger: Generate customer invoices, process daily remittances, and manage customer invoice queries.

- Banking: Process all banking transactions using SAGE 200 and conduct monthly bank reconciliations.

- Purchase Ledger: Handle purchase invoices, set up and maintain supplier accounts, reconcile supplier statements, and manage employee expenses and credit card processes. 

- Nominal Ledger: Assist with prepayments, accruals, journal processing, and month-end/year-end closing activities.  

- Ad Hoc Tasks: Support the Director of Finance in implementing new systems, supervise the finance team during their absence, and assist with payroll responsibilities.

Requirements:

Education/Qualifications:

- Essential: AAT Level 2 or equivalent experience; strong IT skills; good written and spoken English and Maths (GCSE level C or above).

- Desirable: AAT Level 3 or higher; A-level education or relevant degree.

Experience:

- Essential: Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Sage 200 or similar software; strong understanding of accounting procedures; high proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; excellent communication skills.

- Desirable: 5 years’ experience with Sage 200 or a willingness to learn new systems.

Personal Attributes:

- High accuracy and multi-tasking ability; effective influencing skills; excellent organisational skills with a focus on responsiveness; adaptable to organisational change; ability to work under tight deadlines.
