Monarch Education is seeking a qualified Geography Teacher to join a dynamic and supportive secondary school on a temp-to-perm basis. This exciting opportunity is open to Geography specialists with experience teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The successful candidate will play a key role in inspiring students to develop a passion for Geography, contributing to their academic success and personal development.

Key Responsibilities of a Geography Teacher:

Teaching and Learning:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Geography lessons for students in KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring all learners can access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
  • Use a range of teaching methods to inspire student interest and develop their critical thinking skills.
  • Incorporate fieldwork, map skills, and geographical investigations to enhance learning.
  • Encourage students to appreciate the relevance of Geography to their everyday lives and the world around them.

Classroom Management:

  • Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior, promoting a respectful and focused classroom environment.
  • Implement effective classroom management techniques to ensure a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
  • Maintain a safe environment for students, particularly during practical activities and fieldwork.

Assessment and Feedback:

  • Regularly assess student progress through assignments, tests, and classwork.
  • Provide constructive feedback to help students improve academically and personally.
  • Use assessment data to track student progress, identify areas for development, and support individual learning needs.

Curriculum Development:

  • Work collaboratively with the Geography department to review and enhance the curriculum, ensuring it is engaging, relevant, and challenging.
  • Support students in preparing for their GCSE and A-Level exams, helping them achieve their best results.

Student Welfare and Support:

  • Provide guidance and pastoral care to support students' academic and emotional development.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, offering encouragement and helping them overcome challenges.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and enrichment programs to support students' broader development.

Collaboration and Professional Development:

  • Contribute to regular departmental meetings, sharing best practices and ideas to improve teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Take part in continuous professional development, attending training and workshops to stay up-to-date with developments in Geography teaching.


Key Skills and Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
  • A degree in Geography or a related field.

Experience:

  • Proven experience of teaching Geography at KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Strong knowledge of the Geography curriculum and the ability to engage students in the subject.
  • Experience of using a variety of assessment methods to inform planning and improve student outcomes.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A passion for Geography and a desire to inspire students.
