We are currently seeking a passionate Teacher of Maths to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Nottingham. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students in a unique and rewarding environment, helping them achieve their potential and re-engage with education.
The Role:We are looking for a motivated Teacher of Maths to deliver tailored education to students at KS3 and KS4 levels. In this role, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the diverse and often complex needs of students in a PRU setting. This position requires a compassionate and patient individual who can manage challenging behavior and create a positive learning environment. This role could be made permanent depending on the person.
Key Responsibilities:-
Plan, prepare, and deliver Maths lessons tailored to meet individual learning needs and abilities.

Monitor and assess students’ progress, providing regular feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.

Develop strategies to support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, trust, and a love for learning.

Collaborate with support staff, parents, guardians, and external agencies to provide holistic support for students.

Contribute to the development of individual learning plans (ILPs) and participate in staff meetings.
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:
Experience:-
At least 1-2 years of teaching experience, preferably in a PRU or with students who have additional needs, with a strong understanding of the Maths curriculum.

A relevant degree in Maths or a related subject, along with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.

Experience in managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation techniques.

Familiarity with safeguarding policies and procedures, particularly in PRU settings.

Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students who may have disengaged from mainstream education.

Advanced Teaching Experience: Extensive experience in teaching Maths to students with SEMH needs or in alternative provision settings, with a proven track record of success.

Leadership or Coordinator Roles: Experience as a Maths subject lead, behavior lead, or involvement in extracurricular activities that support PRU students.

Professional Development: Continued professional development (CPD) in areas such as SEMH, trauma-informed practice, or restorative approaches.
This role is based in Nottingham, within a well-established Pupil Referral Unit. The school is easily accessible by public transport and offers a supportive working environment.
