My client is a leading national supplier of fire safety, security and electrical services for the Social Housing sector. This is a role that is focused onthedelivery of PPM Servicing & will include repairing the life safety systems and facilitating the Health & Safety procedures and requirements within the contract. You will be working in a different environment every day and across a variety of locations. We trust our engineers to be the face of our business and engage with our clients to ensure we deliver exceptional customer service excellence.
You will be expected to:
- Service, maintain, and install fire alarm systems (BS5839-1), emergency lighting systems, Nurse Call, and Access Control in accordance with relevant British Standards.
- Accurately complete engineer service reports.
- Identify and report any deficiencies or deviations in systems.
- Maintain and report on emergency lighting systems and associated equipment, including fire extinguishers, AOVs, and other related devices.
- Carry out regular van stock checks and liaise with the Engineering Technical Supervisor and Procurement Department to ensure stock levels are replenished and appropriately maintained.
- Adopt a strong Health and Safety mindset, proactively identifying potential risks and reporting any issues promptly to support the safety of yourself and others.
The ideal candidate for a Fire Alarm Engineer will have:
- A flexible approach to work, with a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday), plus the opportunity to earn significantly more through weekend work and participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Previous experience in fire alarm systems, with knowledge of both analogue addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
- FIA training (or equivalent) to BS5839-1 Fundamentals.
- A strong understanding of BS5839, particularly Part 1 and Part 6.

- A base salary of 34,000 - 42,500 per annum (based on a 40-hour workweek), with the potential to earn significantly more through overtime, travel time, and out-of-hours retainer fees. Fire engineers typically work between 45-50 hours per week, substantially increasing their earnings.
