Test Engineer

My client, a UK-based manufacturer specializing in advanced CCTV Systems and Public Address & General Alarm (PAGA) Systems for the Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, Marine, Defence, and Nuclear sectors, is expanding their team and seeking a dedicated and skilled Test Engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Circuit Diagram Interpretation: Understand and follow detailed circuit diagrams to ensure accurate assembly and troubleshooting.
  • PCB Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose and repair multilayer PCBs down to the component level, including surface-mount device (SMD) rework of 0603/0805/16 pin ICs, with a high proficiency in hand soldering techniques.
  • Networking and Software: Possess a basic understanding of networking systems and software to support system integration and troubleshooting.
  • Electrical Work: Safely work with a variety of mains voltages.
  • Testing and Documentation: Complete thorough product and system test procedures, ensuring accurate and detailed documentation.
  • Issue Resolution: Efficiently resolve issues encountered during testing to maintain product quality and performance.
  • Time Management: Work within strict timescales and scheduling to ensure all equipment is prepared for customer presentation or dispatch.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate and work closely within a small team, extending collaboration to other departments as necessary.
  • Factory Acceptance Tests: Prepare for and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests, which may involve direct customer interaction.
  • Quality System Contribution: Follow and contribute to the company's quality system, ensuring compliance and continual improvement.
  • Remote Support: Provide remote support to Ziztel site service engineers during office hours, ensuring efficient issue resolution.
  • Product Feedback: Liaise with the Development department, offering constructive feedback to enhance product design and functionality.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any additional duties as deemed appropriate by the Operations Manager.

Preferred Educational Qualifications:

  • Technical Engineering Certification: Possess a Technical Engineering certificate (e.g., City & Guilds) or relevant industry experience, with a minimum of 3 years working with public address equipment or in a similar environment.
  • Audio Visual Knowledge: Familiarity with audio visual systems is beneficial.
  • Raspberry Pi Familiarity: Experience with 'Raspberry Pi' or similar devices is advantageous.
  • Hazardous Area Knowledge: Understanding of hazardous area concepts and principles is highly desirable.
