Migrant Help have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Outreach Adviser to join our vibrant and committed Outreach team. This role is Homebased covering The Midlands. You will be joining us on a 12 Month Fixed Term contract, there will be a potential for the role to be made permanent or to be extended. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £28,639 - £31,612 per annum.

The Outreach Adviser role:

As the Outreach Adviser, you will support our national Asylum Services to support our most vulnerable asylum seekers across the UK through a mixture of telephone and face to face advice. You will primarily provide day to day support for clients and partners in need of Outreach, ensuring that compliance with Home Office standards is met.If you are an excellent communicator, have the ability to diffuse difficult situations and without becoming personally involved and are looking for an exciting role within an ever-growing, fast paced team, we’d love to hear from you!

The successful candidate will be client focused and an excellent listener, have demonstrable experience working with people in sensitive and emotionally demanding situations and be passionate about protecting our vulnerable clients.

Key responsibilities of our Outreach Adviser:

  • Assisting clients with applications for Asylum Support and Move on Services
  • Signposting clients to specialised support where required
  • To manage a caseload offering appropriate support in a designated timeframe
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date case records, complete case follow ups within the requisite time scales and undertake any necessary administrative tasks
  • Ensure that their work meets overall quality standards and, where possible, exceeds it in line with Government and other Stakeholder contracted arrangements
  • Provide Advice and Guidance to Asylum Seekers as required
  • Provide signposting and make referrals to other services as appropriate
  • Assist clients, report any issues to accommodation providers and the Home Office to highlight any safeguarding concerns
  • Ensure the Outreach and Move on Manager is kept updated with any trends

Skills and experience we are looking for in our Outreach Adviser:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills/ability to communicate with diverse groups
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment
  • Proven ability to prioritise and work on your own initiative whilst respecting boundaries
  • Ability to work flexibly on own initiative and as part of a team as required
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and databases; particularly in making and keeping accurate and timely records

  • The role is a homebased role, however the position will be covering the North East region and travel may sometimes be necessary and therefore flexibility is required
