Information about the Role:

Working as a Support Worker at Home Lodge your duties will include the following:

  • Providing physical support which may include helping with household tasks and personal care.
  • Providing emotional support for an individual and at times their families.
  • Maintain the hygiene, dignity, health and safety of service users at all times.
  • Encouraging and supporting the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
  • Teaching life skills, such as shopping, using public transport and paying for bills.
  • Working with other healthcare professionals to ensure that all care needs meet the highest possible standards.
  • Assist in the design and administration of an evaluation of the care standards and care service provision.
  • If applicable, assist in the administration of medication.

Information about the Service:

We specialise in supporting people who have varying needs as a result of physical and long term neurological conditions including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, head/brain injury, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease, speech impairment, spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

Our care teams are highly skilled and trained to deliver specialist complex care and have significant experience with medication administration, tissue viability management and the provision of end of life care. The full-time support we provide is flexible and designed to help build skills, inspire confidence and encourage people to live more independently. We work directly with each individual to develop a personalised support programme based on their needs, wishes and aspirations. This includes personal care, health & wellbeing programmes, rehabilitation, community engagement, enablement, volunteering and activities.

Necessary Experience or Qualifications to work as a Support worker:

  • No experience needed for this role as full training will be provided.
  • However previous experience working as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Domiciliary Carer or Senior preferred.
  • Caring, kind and considerate.
  • Passionate about making a difference in someone else’s life.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able handle sometimes challenging situations.
  • Fun, energetic and able to build relationships with many different people.
