Social Care Advisor / Service Advisor

  • Salary: £12.08 PAYE / £16.11 Umbrella per hour

We are seeking a dedicated Service Advisor to join our Adult Social Care and Public Health Department. This role is crucial in providing high-quality advice, information, and access to services, ensuring effective support and guidance to the public and professionals within the social care sector.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide immediate, high-quality, and courteous advice and referral services to the public, service users, and representatives from various departments or agencies.
  • Offer specialist social care advice, support, and guidance to other front-line workers and health staff.
  • Triage referrals to determine appropriate outcomes, including signposting, accessing other services, or escalating for detailed community care assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records, complete electronic referrals, and forward them to relevant services.
  • Handle public complaints in line with the County Council’s Complaints Procedures.
  • Update and maintain resource databases and information leaflets to better inform service users and carers.
  • Establish and maintain liaison with local agencies to publicise services and build good working relationships.
  • Attend team and other relevant meetings as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, senior managers, and customers.
  • Proven decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to devise solutions and prioritise resources.
  • Experience in front-line contact with the public in a social care or health setting, either in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • Demonstrable experience in using IT across various applications.
  • Ability to independently manage and prioritise demands to meet objectives.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate records and performing administrative tasks with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
