Rent Enforcement Officer

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Rent Enforcement Officer to join our team on a temporary basis for an initial 3-month period. You will play a crucial role in maximising rental income and reducing rent arrears through effective enforcement action. This will involve preparing and presenting cases in County Court and attending evictions.

Contract Type: Temporary -Initially 3 months (covering long-term absence)Working Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:50 pm - Hybrid.Base Office: Harvey Road, NG8 3BB (team days)Court Location: Loxley House, NG2 3NG

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maximising rent collection and minimising arrears through enforcement action.
  • Preparing legal cases and representing the organisation in County Court.
  • Attending evictions and supporting tenants through the enforcement process.
  • Conducting home visits and managing cases in accordance with Housing Act Legislation and Pre-Action Protocol for Social Landlords.
  • Providing financial advice to tenants and liaising with benefits teams regarding Welfare and Discretionary Housing Benefits.
  • Working independently, including lone home visits, while also contributing to a supportive team environment.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a housing management environment.
  • Expertise in rent collection and arrears management, including knowledge of legal procedures related to debt recovery.
  • Strong understanding of Housing Act Legislation and court processes.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Welfare Benefits and Housing Benefits, including Discretionary Housing Payments.
  • Experience in conducting home visits and lone working.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in preparing and presenting cases in County Court.
  • NVQ Level 3/4 in Housing Management or part qualification with the Chartered Institute of Housing.
