I'm currently recruiting for a rapidly growing logistics company based in Nottingham, dedicated to transforming the way businesses manage and optimize their supply chain processes. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Software Engineer to join the dynamic development team. As part of a team of 5 developers, you will work on innovative projects that drive the future of logistics technology.

Job Description:

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer with strong experience in PHP, Laravel, Node.js, and MySQL to help build and maintain our software platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key part of our development team, reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer. You will collaborate with your peers to create scalable, high-performance solutions that have a direct impact on the logistics industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and improve software applications using PHP, Laravel, Node.js, and MySQL.
  • Work closely with the CTO and the development team to deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while following industry best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across our platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our development processes.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Software Engineer or similar role, with expertise in PHP, Laravel, Node.js, and MySQL.
  • Solid understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • A proactive and self-motivated attitude with the ability to manage tasks independently.

Desirable Skills (not essential but a plus):

  • Familiarity with AWS or cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Experience with other programming languages or frameworks.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with the logistics or supply chain industry is a bonus.
