Empowering Learning are delighted to be working with a primary school in the NG3 area who are looking to add a learning support assistant to their pastoral team.

The role will begin November 2024 and will be full time with the hours of work being 8:30-4pm. This will be a fixed term contract until July 2025 with the potential of this becoming a permanent role for the right person.

The main duties within this role will be:

  • Supporting children both in and out the classroom with academic work
  • Working on a 1:1 basis with targeted children
  • Running an activity over lunch time to help promote socialising between pupils
  • Assisting the class teacher with the running of lessons
  • Using the school's reward system to help engage children in lessons
  • Leading guided reading sessions with pupils

The school are looking for someone who:

  • Will act as a positive role model for the children
  • Has previous experience of working in a childcare setting
  • Can help pupils progress with their academic work
  • Can manage the behaviour of children within the class
  • Can be a good team player
  • Will be able to communicate effectively with their colleagues and pupils
