Duties

  • Supervise and manage classroom activities in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Ensure that students follow instructions and complete assigned tasks.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all students, including those with autism and other special educational needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of lesson plans and provide additional support where necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with students to encourage participation and engagement.
  • Mentor and tutor students as needed, providing guidance on academic work.
  • Monitor student behaviour and address any issues that arise in a constructive manner.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to share insights on student progress and behaviour.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in an educational or mentoring capacity is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with students and staff.
  • Ability to educate and inspire students through creative methods, including creative writing activities.
  • Knowledge or experience in special education practices is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with strategies for working with individuals on the autism spectrum is advantageous.
