SEMH Primary Teacher - Temp to Perm Opportunity

Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of an Independent Special Needs School for an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Primary Teacher to join their team on a temp to perm basis.

About the Role:

  • Hours: 9am - 3pm (including debrief)
  • Pay: Paid to scale
  • Children in Small Groups: 2-6 per hub, with some 1-1 support
  • Focus: Teaching children with SEMH needs, working within small teaching hubs or providing 1-1 support to those with an EHCP.
  • Environment: Tailored lessons using the national curriculum, with sensory breaks, movement breaks, and calming activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and teach small groups or 1-1 support for children with SEMH.
  • Implement sensory and brain breaks, scribing, and calming strategies to support engagement.
  • Maintain high expectations, ensuring work is completed with flexibility on timing to meet individual needs.

Behavioural Support:Children may exhibit behaviours such as swearing, aggression, defiance, or self-harm. All staff are trained in restrictive physical interventions, which are used only as a last resort to ensure safety. Staff communicate via radios for support.
