Interim VAT Compliance Manager (12-Month FTC)

The Role

A great opportunity for an experienced VAT compliance specialist to take on a key role within a well established retail business. This position focuses on ensuring accurate and timely VAT compliance across multiple jurisdictions while driving process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

? VAT Compliance & Reporting:

  • Prepare and submit UK, Ireland, Netherlands, and Belgium VAT returns within required deadlines.
  • Manage VAT compliance independently or with tax associate support, depending on the jurisdiction.
  • Ensure accurate VAT account reconciliations, maintaining strong financial controls.

? Process & Control Enhancements:

  • File Intrastat, OSS, IOSS, and other VAT statistical returns for UK and EU entities.
  • Work closely with the VAT team to develop and document key VAT processes.
  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements to enhance VAT processes.

? Advisory & Collaboration:

  • Provide ad hoc indirect tax advice to support business operations.
  • Work alongside the VAT Manager and Head of Tax Compliance to embed process improvements.
  • Potential involvement in export VAT compliance and associated reporting.
The Person

?? Tax or Accounting Qualification - ATT, CTA, ICAEW, ICAS, or equivalent.?? Strong VAT Compliance Experience - Proven track record of delivering accurate VAT compliance across multiple jurisdictions.?? Retail Sector Knowledge - Desirable but not essential.?? Understanding of Indirect Tax & Customs - Experience with VAT implications of goods movement is beneficial.?? Data & Analytical Skills - Strong data manipulation and interrogation abilities.?? Organised & Detail-Oriented - Ability to prioritise tasks and support junior team members.

Location & Working Arrangements

This role is based in Nuneaton, with occasional travel to London or other business locations. Hybrid working is supported, with a minimum of two days in the office per week.
