Fantastic opportunity for a Head of Mechanical Engineering / Lead Mechanical Design Engineer / Lead Engineer / Chief Engineer to play a key role in the growth of a cutting-edge robotic vehicles and autonomous systems technology developer within the UK and defence sector. £5m t/o UK SME backed by £1billion group.

Your background as a Head of Mechanical Engineering:

• Role would suit a senior level Mechanical Engineer with a mechanical design engineering background who would enjoy a role that combines mechanical design responsibility whilst providing technical leadership to a small mechanical design engineering team (currently 2 other Mechanical Design Engineers).
• Experience of vehicle engineering design / automotive engineering design is required, specific experience of any of the following areas would be advantageous, vehicle architectures, mechanical systems, chassis design, vehicle payloads, systems integration.
• Experience of off-road or specialist vehicle applications would be advantageous e.g., defence / military / construction / agricultural / low volume vehicles.
• You will be degree qualified in a mechanical engineering or similar engineering discipline.
• You must be eligible for UK security clearance (British or European nation passport holder).

Your responsibilities as Head of Mechanical Engineering:

• Lead the mechanical design and mechanical development of new vehicle concepts from requirements capture through to delivery of prototype vehicles.
• Technically responsible for mechanical systems at vehicle systems, sub-system, and component level.
• Support the enhancement, evolution, and industrialisation of vehicles.
• Provide technical leadership to the mechanical engineering team.
• Actively contribute and/or lead on the development of engineering processes and procedures within the UK business as it continues to grow.
