We have a fantastic opportunity to join us as a Fixed Asset Manager at Holland & Barrett. The Fixed Asset Manager is responsible for the operational management of the company's fixed assets, ensuring accurate accounting, compliance with regulations, and the optimisation of asset utilisation. The role ensures the integrity of the fixed asset register, manages asset lifecycle processes (acquisition, tracking, depreciation, and disposal), and contributes to financial planning and risk mitigation efforts focussing on impacts of change in the fixed asset register (depreciation, disposal, impairment etc).

The Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Major Projects and Initiatives: Manage the full lifecycle of fixed assets, including:
  • Acquisition: Oversee acquisitions to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Tracking: Implement and maintain systems for monitoring physical location and condition of assets.
  • Depreciation: Calculate and record depreciation in line with accounting standards.
  • Disposal: Manage asset disposals/retirements, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with fixed assets.
  • Develop and maintain the fixed asset register to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Operational Tasks:

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies for fixed assets.
  • Input into the development of fixed asset-related policies as needed.
  • Own and deliver budgeting and forecasting activities for depreciation, amortisation, disposals and impairments
  • Collaborate with auditors by providing documentation and addressing inquiries.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to assess WIP balances and appropriateness for capitalisation in line with the Fixed Assets capitalisation policy

Location:

This role is based in Nuneaton, and may be occasionally required to travel to our London Hub or to any other location of H&B. We support flexibility and productivity of our employees by hybrid working arrangements with minimum 2 days presence in the office.

The Person:

Key Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and standards related to fixed assets and depreciation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fixed asset lifecycle management, including acquisition and disposal processes.
  • Strong analytical and financial analysis skills for evaluating the financial impact of asset-related decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with non-experts and cross-functional teams.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant financial software.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in reporting and compliance.
  • Proven experience in a fixed asset management role, ideally in a retail or related industry.
  • Track record of managing fixed asset acquisition, disposal, and compliance activities.
  • Experience collaborating with auditors and cross-functional teams on financial and operational matters.
