We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Payroll Team as Finance Business Partner - Group Central Payroll at Holland & Barrett. The Finance Business Partner for Head Office Payroll is responsible for providing strategic financial support and insights to all Head Office functions. This role focuses on Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting of the associated costs of a c1,800 headcount, ensuring compliance, accuracy, appropriate accounting treatment and optimizing financial performance related to payroll activities.

The Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Analysis & Reporting:
    • Analyse payroll and headcount data and provide insights to drive cost efficiencies and support decision-making.
    • Prepare regular financial reports, forecasts, and budgets for payroll-related activities, including leading the annual Budgeting process for all headcount related costs.
    • Monitor and report on Payroll & Headcount KPIs to senior management.
    • Build strong relationships across the business and broader Commercial Finance team to deliver comprehensive analysis along with supporting commentary
  • Payroll Cost Management:
    • Collaborate with HR (HRIS and HR Business Partnering) to ensure all financial planning and reporting is aligned with HR data.
    • Manage relationships with external international payroll providers and ensure accuracy and consistency through regular account reconciliation.
  • Business Partnering:
    • Provide analytical support and forward-thinking insights on all payroll & headcount matters to drive strategic decision-making across the business, ensuring the achievement of critical transformational targets.
    • Work closely with HR Business Partners and department heads to understand their payroll budget / planning challenges and provide solutions.
    • Perform ad hoc deep dives as necessary to highlight risks and opportunities for the business and communicate findings
    • Support the Tech function & CDO with supporting costings of Capitalizable activity
  • Compliance & Risk Management: 
    • Ensure compliance with all internal accounting policies. 
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks related to payroll & headcount, working closely with FP&A team to ensure consistent view of these in all reporting outputs
    • Support audits and implement recommendations as necessary.

Location:

This role is based in Nuneaton, and may be occasionally required to travel to our London Hub or to any other location of H&B. We support flexibility and productivity of our employees by hybrid working arrangements with minimum 2 days presence in the office.

The Person:

Key Requirements: 

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA)
  • Retail experience desirable, preferably within a commercial finance role, ideally with a headcount focus
  • Inquisitive problem solver
  • Experience in proactively managing ambiguity
  • Strong Excel Data Modelling skills
