We have an exciting opportunity for a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at a secondary school in Southampton, with a competitive pay rate between £17,500 to £19,500 per year (based on experience). This role is set to start ASAP or from Easter 2025, with the potential for a permanent contract after a probation period. About the Role

As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work on a one-to-one basis with a student with Autism who is on an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). You will play a crucial role in supporting the students’ educational and personal development, ensuring they have the best possible learning experience.

Key Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)

  • Provide one-to-one support to a student with Autism, following their EHCP.
  • Assist the students with their learning activities, ensuring they remain engaged and on task.
  • Support the student's social and emotional development, promoting a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to ensure the students’ needs are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of the student's progress and any issues that arise.
  • Implement strategies to manage and support the students’ behaviour effectively.

Requirements of SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly Autism, is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with the students, teachers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage and support the student's behaviour, maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in different classroom settings and with various age groups.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
