We are looking for an experienced complex care personal assistant to join our family. You will be kind, patient and enjoy fitting in with busy family life.We particularly welcome applicants from people with experience of working with spinal injury and rehabilitation, but this is not essential as full bespoke client centred training will be provided for the right candidate. You will be working with a 54 year old male and his family to support him with his personal care requirements, support his rehabilitation programme, develop his independent living skills and improve his quality of life in his family home. This is a live in position based in a beautiful village near Oakham in Rutland.
The Role
Assisting with all aspects of personal care, including bowel and bladder care
Providing support and assistance for social outings and appointments and assisting with all therapies
Assisting with food preparation and domestic tasks
We travel around UK and abroad so the role would involve accompanying him on these trips as part of a team on a rota basis
About You
We are looking for candidates who are flexible, reliable, trustworthy and enthusiastic, with a good sense of humour
You should also be open minded, willing to learn new skills
A full driving licence is essential and you need to be happy to drive long distances 3 or 4 times a year
Previous complex care experience would be advantageous ie stoma bag, AD, moving and handling, using a hoist. However, for the right candidate some of this can be trained
NVQ level 2 or equivalent, or care certificate, or willing to complete the care certificate
Package
This is a self-employed position at £173.25 per day
£20 per hour overtime
£175 per week food and travel allowance
2 weeks paid holiday per year
Live in a self-contained flat in the house with access to Sky, Netflix etc
Use of an automatic car in free time
Shift Patterns
You will live in and be forming a team who will provide full daytime support on a rota basis of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, including weekend and bank holidays.
Your hours each day are likely to be 9am-11pm with plenty of breaks. We are a social family so any longer hours would be remunerated. Your nights will rarely be disturbed.
