An English Teacher is needed at an alternate provision setting on the outskirts of Rutland who are committed to providing high-quality education for students who struggle within mainstream schools. The school's approach is student-centered, nurturing, and focused on supporting learners to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

The Role:We are seeking a passionate and resilient English Teacher. The successful Teacher will have experience working with students who have faced barriers to learning and will use innovative and engaging teaching strategies to inspire a love of English. You will be instrumental in developing literacy skills and supporting students to achieve their qualifications, whether GCSEs, functional skills, or other pathways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to the needs of individual learners.

  • Support students in developing literacy skills, comprehension, and confidence in communication.

  • Differentiate lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs, including SEN and SEMH learners.

  • Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.

  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including support staff and external agencies.

  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and intervention where necessary.

  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes respect and self-confidence.

Person Specification:

  • Ideally QTS however not essential, must however have English teaching experience.

  • Experience working in an Alternative Provision, PRU, or with students with additional needs is highly desirable.

  • A strong understanding of differentiation and behaviour management strategies.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • A flexible and adaptable approach to teaching.

  • Passion for making a real difference in students' lives.
