We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join a dynamic team. This role offers the chance to work on bespoke marine components, transforming specifications into detailed designs ready for manufacture. Day-to-day of the role:
- Design and develop marine shaft line components and propellers.
- Create detailed designs primarily in 2D, with some 3D CAD work under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.
- Establish requirements with customers and collaborate closely with the Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing teams.
- Ensure designs meet both internal standards and external regulatory compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, with essential experience in AutoCAD and desirable experience in SolidWorks.
- Proven experience providing technical solutions to design challenges.
- Confidence in managing projects of varying size, timeframe, and complexity.
- Experience in the design of components and assemblies, with a preference for those in the marine industry.
- Knowledge of design for manufacture and familiarity with the production environment.
- Familiarity with design codes, classification rules, and regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Strong mathematical and numerical skills.
- Engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey design information effectively.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Design Engineer, preferably in the marine industry.
