Penguin Recruitment is delighted to present a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Town Planner to join a close-knit team of specialists in Exeter!

My client is a Planning and Architectural Design consultancy composed of an intimate team of professionals with the knowledge and expertise to offer their clients a 360 solution to planning, design, and enforcement requirements.

The team works across the South-West and throughout the UK covering work across a multitude of sectors including industrial and commercial, renewables, householder and enforcement, agriculture, barn conversions and equestrian.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Processing of planning, advertisement consent, listed building applications and all other planning matters.
  • Undertake site inspections and consultations as necessary, in accordance with agreed targets, timescales and priorities on behalf of the client.
  • Dealing with post-decision matters such as discharge of conditions, advising on re-submissions and minor amendments.
  • Dealing with all planning related queries in person, by telephone, email, letter and being the first point of contact for all clients.
  • Prepare the clients representations for planning appeals and handle on-going negotiations and correspondence.
  • Represent the consultancy at events, meetings and groups as required.

Candidate requirements

  • RTPI accredited degree in town planning or related field of study.
  • Good Oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Enthusiasm and ability to organise.
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
