BACKGROUND

  • Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to discipline, post and project requirements.
  • Experience in producing and checking a wide range of engineering reports and supporting more junior engineers in these activities.
  • Able to suggest and guide the creation of appropriate hand calculations to verify that concepts / proposals meet design requirements.
  • Experience of the design support to construction, operation, refit/repair of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities. OR Experience of the design and support of Hydrocarbon/Chemical process/plant systems.
  • Experience of substantiation of process equipment for justification of Safety Functions (Nuclear preferred).
  • Experience of the Functional Safety implications of process / plant design, and design of safety systems.
  • Able to produce and check Process Sequence / P&ID drawings.
  • Able to produce and check fabrication drawings to recognised standards, i.e. BS8888.
  • Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council or working towards Chartership.
