Join our NHS Hospital client’s pharmacy team in the beautiful county of Devon. We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Pharmacist to join the dynamic team across various wards, including general, medical, and surgical areas.


A Day in the Life of a Pharmacist:

As a pharmacist your day will be both varied and fulfilling. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Morning Briefing: Start your day with a team huddle, discussing patient care priorities and any updates on medications or protocols.
  • Ward Rounds: Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, collaborating with doctors and nurses to assess patient medication needs and making recommendations for therapy adjustments.
  • Patient Consultations: Meet with patients to discuss their medications, answer questions, and provide education on how to manage their treatment effectively.
  • Medication Management: Review patient medication records to ensure accuracy, monitor for potential drug interactions, and ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Clinical Responsibilities: Contribute to clinical decision-making by providing drug information to the healthcare team and adjusting prescriptions as needed.
  • Afternoon Tasks: Handle medication orders, prepare IV admixtures, and participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate patient records and documentation while also reporting any medication incidents to improve safety protocols.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure smooth operations within the pharmacy department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure safe and effective medication management.
  • Participate in ward rounds and contribute to clinical decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Pharmacist (BPharm/MPharm or equivalent).
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • No prior hospital experience required; we welcome community pharmacists eager to transition into a hospital setting.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
